Modern lift

So many technological advancements have changed the way the world of design in the last 150 years, but perhaps none has had a greater impact than the invention of the passenger lift. As we build taller and grander structures, it is important that the technology behind our lifts keeps up the pace and is able to evolve at the same time.

The last few years have been very productive for the lift industry, thanks to growth in construction as well as new innovations which have elevated the way lifts function and how they can be serviced. In this blog post we have accumulated a couple of the examples of the advancements which have recently been made. Read on to discover more about this ever-evolving industry.

The Smartlift

In the same vein as a smartphone or TV, lifts are becoming increasingly high-tech. When a lift-user pushes a button for the floor they wish to visit, an indicator will direct them to a specific elevator that will handle the task the quickest.

This kind of advanced routing will efficiently move the flow of passengers, this is particularly useful during high-traffic times in busy hotels, high rises, apartments and office buildings. They can even be programmed to operate in different ways at certain periods throughout the day.

Virtual reality

This is a particularly recent high-tech innovation related to the evolving technology of lift repair. They have altered the way that mechanics are carried out in terms of repairs, permitting mechanics to identify a problem without any risk to safety by climbing several floors or hanging from a lift shift. All the mechanic has to do, is simply put the glasses on, using hand motions to explore the engine and individual parts in thorough depth. You can also broaden the view in order to complete a virtual “walk through” and see what needs to be repaired or potentially replaced.

Going green

Green lifts not only save on energy consumption, they will also save on the materials, processes, and technologies that are utilised. Plus, savings can be experienced on interior paints, flooring, lighting, control panels and HVAC systems.
