How to Choose a Proper Lift

When you think of lifts, you envision a tall building with offices or a hotel. A building does not have to be more than two or three stories to install a lift. Lifts are something ADL Lift Services Limited knows a lot about because they have been installing and repairing them for over 100 years.

Lifts provide safe vertical passenger transportation. Even if your business building has only two or three stories, you can install a lift and cater to more customers/clients. Individuals with mobility issues will appreciate the consideration you put into providing them with transport to upper levels without having to take the stairs.

If you are considering having a lift installed for a new or existing building, you should know how to select the type of lift you need or want.

Does your building have space for a lift?

You will need to get expert help analysing the amount of space you have for a lift, or if you have the space. Consider whether or not your building must comply with Part M because you will require a minimum Part M lift.

Will there be specific regulations you must consider?

Some of the building standards or requirements that may affect the type of lift you install include:

·Vandal Resistance

·Fire Evacuation – BS999

·Fire Fighting – EN81-72

This is not a comprehensive list of standards, so you must know your local standards and laws.

How many will you need to accommodate?

Make a reasonable guess at how many people will use the lift at one time during your open hours. Base your guess on your traffic flow and the building size. Small lifts are fit for four to six people. Also consider if you should accommodate people with wheelchairs.

Is the lift for a new or existing structure?

The design and age of your building will affect your choice in lifts. There should not be a problem accommodating a lift shaft in a newer building. Older buildings, on the other hand, may be limited for having a lift shaft created. ADL Lift Services Limited will provide you with options if there are any.

What lift design do you want?

There are a variety of types and designs of lifts that will accommodate virtually any building. Some of the choices from ADL Lift Services Limited include:

·Eco Lift – This design uses highly efficient technology that reduces power consumption without affecting performance.

·Lift Products – Hydraulic and traction lifts, lift cars, frames, controllers, structures, and machine room-less (MRL) are part an array of products.

·Lift Manufacturers – You get the choice of innovative lift technology plus beautifully engineered and designed lifts to fit your needs and wants.
